Ustrasana in Sanskrit literally means ‘Camel Pose’. A very powerful posture, the Camel Pose is an advanced pose meant for intermediate and advanced yoga practitioners. Apart from benefiting the back, if you are feeling low and tired, the Camel posture can help you de-stress and relax the mind. This pose is said to benefit the circulatory, nervous, endocrine and the respiratory systems. The best part of performing Camel pose is, when performed correctly, nearly all the major muscles of our bodies are being stretched. In addition, it stimulates and tones many of our limbs, including the chest, abdomen, and thighs. In short, the front side of our bodies are getting fully involved in this ustrasana yoga posture.

Performing the camel posture:
1. Kneel down on the floor. Your knees, hips and thighs should be perpendicular to the floor.
2. Now try to move your thighs inwards.
3. Rest your hands on your hips in such a way that your palms are placed on your buttocks and fingers pointing towards the floor.
4. Try to bring your chest in the upward direction and lower your arms a little thus trying to bend your body backwards.
5. Try to place your hands on the ground with your palms touching the ground.
6. Rest the front side of your feet on the floor and balance your body on your palms and feet.
7. Try to balance your body in this position.
8. Now lift up your hands and try to catch your feet with your fingers.
9. Inhale and exhale deeply and properly.
10. Remain steady in this position for about 15-30 seconds depending upon your capacity and then release.
11. Repeat this activity 5 times on a regular basis.

Benefits of Ustrasana or Camel pose yoga:
The entire frontal section of the body is stretched to the maximum along with the groin, ankles and thighs. Benefits include:
