La Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS) reconoció hoy a Pastor Castell-Florit Serrate, de Cuba, por su servicio a la salud pública, al entregarle el Premio OPS a la Administración.
Este premio reconoce el liderazgo sobresaliente de Castell-Florit y sus valiosas contribuciones a la gestión y administración del Sistema Nacional de Salud cubano.
"Este es uno de los días más importantes de mi vida”,dijo Castell-Florit al recibir el premio ante el público compuesto de ministros de Salud y otras altas autoridades salud de las Américas, que esta semana se encuentran en Washington, D.C., asistiendo al 55.o Consejo Directivo de la OPS.Según Castell-Florit, una buena gerencia en salud es aquella que “hace la mejor salud posible con los recursos que están a su disposición”.
El salubrista cubano dedicó el galardón a sus compañeros de trabajo a lo largo de su vida, a sus padres, familia y esposa “por su incondicional apoyo”. También, a los “paradigmas de la salud pública cubana” que lo recibieron antes que él y que “creyeron con firmeza que un mundo mejor es posible”, señaló.
